Nixeus NX-VUE27P Pro WQHD (2560×1440) Monitor Launched

Over the last four years, Nixeus has launched a number of products focused on the gaming market. While the initial focus was on high-resolution monitors, they have now started to include gaming keyboards (mechanical) and mice in their portfolio. In addition, they have also been at the forefront in supporting AMD’s FreeSync variable refresh rate technology in their monitors. Last month, they introduced a ‘Pro’ version of their 27″ WQHD (2560×1440) IPS monitor.

The new monitor will be sold under the NX-VUE27P model name, with the ‘P’ indicating that the professional market is being targeted. The 2560×1440 monitor supports 100% sRGB color gamut, while also claiming AdobeRGB support. Except for the latter aspect, the display of the Nixeus PRO Vue 27″ AH-IPS 2560×1440 Mac/PC monitor is identical to the Nixeus VUE27D that we reviewed back in late 2013. Given the review link, I will not go into the details of the brightness, contrast ratio, response time etc of the NX-VUE27P.

Unlike many of the vendors that we talk to, Nixeus is quite transparent about the hardware choices they made while designing the product. The panel model and the scaler can be easily found by anyone with access to the hardware, but, Nixeus saved us the trouble and indicated that the NX-VUE27P uses the same panel as that of the NX-VUE27D, the LG LM270WQ1-SDF1. While the NX-VUE27D had only a DisplayPort input (enabled via a MStar scaler), the NX-VUE27P adopts a more recent Novatek scaler that enables additional features – multiple display inputs (DL-DVI-D, DP 1.2, HDMI and VGA), and a mode that can activate the 8-bit + A-FRC feature of the panel (’10-bit’ mode). This ’10-bit’ mode allows Nixeus to add an additional OSD option for AdobeRGB color gamut. Despite this option, the panel capabilities dictate that only around 78% of the AdobeRGB color gamut can be covered by the monitor.

The NX-VUE27P also has in-built stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack (for use with VGA and DVI connections). The MSRP is $400, but the current street price seems to be around $390. The monitor carries a 2-year warranty.

EIZO Launches FlexScan EV2780: 27” 2560×1440 Display with USB Type-C Connector

As the USB Type-C connector has become more prevalent, so have devices that support the optional DisplayPort alt mode. To that end, EIZO has introduced their first monitor that users a USB Type-C to connect to host systems. The FlexScan EV2780 is a higher-end office monitor with display features typical of other 27″ 1440p monitors, and features thin borders which make the monitor particularly suitable for multi-monitor environments.

The EIZO FlexScan EV2780 is a 27” IPS display with a 2560×1440 resolution, 350 nits brightness, 178° viewing angles, a 60 Hz refresh rate and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. The monitor is aimed at typical home and business applications: it can reproduce 16.77 million colors and supports sRGB color gamut, enough for typical workloads, and has a response time of 5 ms gray-to-gray, enough for mainstream gaming.

One of the key features of the FlexScan EV2780 is its USB Type-C input that works with DisplayPort alternate mode for USB-C. The port can be used to connect various desktops, laptops and smartphones that support DP alt mode for USB-C, including Apple MacBook, Dell XPS 12/13/15, HP Elite X2 1012, HP EliteBook Folio G1, Microsoft Lumia 950/950 XL, LG G5, HTC 10 M10h and so on. To ensure compatibility with other modern systems, the FlexScan EV2780 also has a DisplayPort and an HDMI connector in addition to a dual-port USB 3.0 hub.

Another notable feature of the new 27” display from EIZO are its ultra-thin bezels: 1 mm on the sides and top as well as 4.6 mm on the bottom. Since the monitor also has 5.7-mm thick black borders (which results in 6.7 mm borders on sides and top), it cannot be called completely borderless, but its thin frames make it a reasonable candidate for multi-display setups used for business or entertainment purposes. To make it more attractive for such setups, EIZO bundles its proprietary Screen InStyle software that allows users to adjust the color, circadian dimming and power settings on multiple FlexScan displays at once.

Finally, the FlexScan comes with a stand featuring a 155 mm height adjustment, 40° tilt (5° down, 35° up) and 344° swivel & 90° pivot for portrait mode.

EIZO did not reveal MSRP of its FlexScan EV2780 monitor, but an educated guess points towards something around $1000, based on the fact that the company’s previous-gen 27” FlexScan flagship (EV2750) is currently available for $989 at Amazon. Just like other EIZO displays, the monitor comes with with a five-year warranty with a six-month zero bright sub-pixel guarantee.

EIZO FlexScan EV2451 & EV2456 Launched: Thin Bezels in 16:9 and 16:10

EIZO has introduced two new displays designed for specialized and business environments that require multi-monitor setups. The new FlexScan EV2451 and EV2456 are equipped with ultra-thin bezels for their standout feature, and are IPS panels with 178° viewing angles as well as four display inputs to maximize compatibility.

The FlexScan EV2451 and EV2456 monitors have generally typical specifications for today’s office displays: 1920×1080 and 1920×1200 resolution (respectively), 250 and 350 nits brightness (respectively), a 60 Hz refresh rate and a rated 1000:1 contrast ratio. The monitors can use DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D or D-Sub to connect to host PCs such that they can be used with new and legacy computers. In addition, they support EIZO’s EcoView Optimizer 2 feature, which dynamically adjusts backlight brightness in accordance with environment brightness to reduce power consumption.

The key features of the two monitors are their ultra-thin bezel sizes: 1 mm on the sides and top as well as 4.6 mm on the bottom (keep in mind that that the monitors also have black borders between bezels and screens, hence, we cannot call them completely borderless). Such thin bezels mean that EIZO is aiming these displays for multi-monitor setups used in trading and control rooms. Moreover, such bezels make the FlexScan EV2451 and EV2456 monitors plausible candidates for gamers, who might use multiple monitors to play titles like flight simulators.

To maximize flexibility for multi-display environments, both monitors also use new stands with height-adjustment range of 158.6 mm (EV2456) and 172.7 mm (EV2451) as well as 40° (5° down, 35° up) tilt, 344° swivel, and 90° pivot for viewing in portrait mode. The stands can be easily removed using their quick-release buttons, and the screens can be installed onto a VESA-compatible mounting device. Finally, EIZO also supplies special Screen InStyle software that lets users adjust the color, circadian dimming and power settings on multiple FlexScan displays at once. This includes flicker free modes, blue-light reduction modes, and paper-reading modes.

EIZO plans to start shipments of its new monitors shortly, their prices will naturally vary by country. The predecessor of the FlexScan EV2456 (the EV2455) has an MSRP of $569 in the U.S., whereas the predecessor of the FlexScan EV2451 (the EV2450) costs $399 in the U.S. As for warranty, the FlexScan monitors come with a five-year warranty with a six-month zero bright sub-pixel guarantee.
